About Us

Pirouette is a 24-months Capacity Building project aimed at promoting the use of performative street arts such as circus, street dance and street painting as an innovative NFE methodology to foster social and civic engagement of youth and promote a community-led regeneration of urban/disadvantaged areas in Germany, Albania, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pirouette’s project was born from the analysis of the living conditions of young people and their civic commitment through street performing arts in the national context of the four partner countries.

The project idea stems from the recognition of youth’s social and civic engagement as a driving force for community development. Research supports a participatory approach to identify culture as a mean of civic engagement, as well as the creation and sharing of cultural projects for strengthening social belonging and community participation.

Performing arts can be tools of protest, emancipation, storytelling and expression. For us, they are also means of civic engagement, enabling the creation and sharing of cultural projects aiming at strengthening social belonging and community participation.

Research

National researches conducted on the status and some best practices of performative arts for educational, community development, regeneration purposes in selected locations in Italy, Germany, Albania, BiH.

TRAINING FORMAT ON “PERFORMATIVE ARTS IN NFE”

Training Format on how to include and exploit performative street arts as a Non Formal Education tool, collaboratively developed and tested

“YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TROUGH PERFORMATIVE STREET ARTS” TOOLKIT

Toolkit developed through a co-design process between youth workers and partner organizations addressing the theoretical frame of youth civic engagement through performative street arts, existent good practice instruments, as well as a set of educational activity/workshops and video tutorials

1 TRAINING COURSE

Training course on performative street art and NFE addressed to youth workers from partner organizations

1 YOUTH EXCHANGE

Exchange of youth workers and youngsters of each participant country, who will be trained in performative arts events management, through NFE methodologies, simulation game, simulation of roundtables with local authorities and stakeholders, development of event ideas

We are now in the second phase, consisting in the collaborative development of
the Training Format and the consequent organization of the Training Course
